VILLAGE MANAGER |
|
The manager is the chief administrative
officer for the Village. The manager’s position
requires supervision over all departments and
personnel within the Village of Jonesville. As the manager of a growing community the manager position requires that a multitude of skills and knowledge of various aspects of public administration are needed. The Village manager is hired by the Village Council and the Council serves as the manager’s supervisors.

The Village of Jonesville has had a council-manager form of government since 1990. As such the Village Manager position has evolved from its early days as an administrative supervisor to a position that has numerous responsibilities including economic development, commercial and industrial public relations, financial supervision, coordinating resources and materials for projects, writing policies and ordinances, serving as a member on various area boards and commissions and providing citizens and property owners a person
to whom they can voice concerns and make inquiries about issues that cannot be addressed by department heads or other personnel.

FINANCE DIRECTOR/TREASURER |
|
The Finance Department is responsible for the financial planning, monitoring and auditing of the financial status of the Village. The Finance Director/Treasurer position consists of financial, clerical, and bookkeeping work involving overseeing all of the financial operations of the Village,
as well as being responsible for property tax
billing and collections. |

Responsibilities include managing the
Village’s investments, maximizing earnings
potential; preparing and distributing monthly
financial statements; ensuring compliance with
federal and state accounting standards;
maintaining accounts payable records; preparing
and maintaining the annual budget; complying
with budgetary requirements; working with
auditors during the audit and throughout the
year; working with Council Members, Village
Manager, Department Heads and others on
financial issues, billing and collecting
property taxes, and assisting others as necessary with computer questions, special projects, etc.

VILLAGE CLERK |
|
The Clerk is responsible for
records management, including meeting minutes, preparing
and processing payroll and human resource
functions, and assisting the Village Manager.
Responsibilities include various clerical
functions dealing with insurance issues,
worker’s compensation and unemployment,
preparation of reports and meeting agendas, and
handling a significant portion of public
contacts, and various state and federal reports.
The Clerk also has knowledge
of utility billing and ordinance matters, and
serves as back up for Deputy Clerk/Treasurer.

DEPUTY CLERK/TREASURER |
|
The Deputy Clerk/Treasurer is responsible for
assisting with Clerk and Treasurer duties
including property tax collection and
minute-taking, handling the
public (via phone or in person), and answering
questions or referring customers to the
appropriate department. The Deputy
Clerk/Treasurer is also responsible for all functions relating to
monthly utility billing, including collecting
and posting payments, making bank deposits, and
processing past due notices. Processing zoning
permits, balancing the cash drawer, and processing NSF checks are all part
of the daily routine. Various other clerical
tasks are performed in addition to preparing
payroll in absence of the Village Clerk.
